From Kiva’s launch in 2010, our high standards dictated the use of clean, solventless cold water hash for Kiva’s chocolates. This handcrafted process provides a richer, fuller cannabis experience that honors the essence of the whole plant.
In 2020, Kiva launched Lost Farm chews and gummies, which were the first plant-based edibles infused with strain-specific 100% live resin. Within two hours of harvest, cannabis flower is flash-frozen to preserve the rich flavors, complex aromas, and broad terpene profiles unique to that singular strain. The flower is then delicately extracted to create one of the highest quality, most true-to-plant cannabis concentrates around: live resin. This superior extract retains all the delicate cannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenes typically lost in most edibles.
With Lost Farm, we believe a “true-to-plant” experience requires a “true-to-plant” process that acknowledges the virtues of each variety and the farm that grew it. In our quest for the best flower, we realized that different extraction methods are needed to deliver each strain's supremely unique experience. Going back to Kiva's roots in solventless extraction methods, Lost Farm is now introducing 100% live rosin edibles.
Live rosin is a solventless concentrate created with care and craftsmanship. This exceptionally natural extraction process is much like live resin in that it uses cannabis flower that’s been flash-frozen within two hours of harvest. However, live rosin uses a mechanical process involving heat and pressure to extract the resin from the plant.
Full-spectrum extracts (aka whole plant extracts) retain the cannabis plant’s full profile and typically contain a variety of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other compounds. Just like live resin, live rosin maintains the original essence of each strain’s terpenes, cannabinoids, flavonoids, and other organic compounds to deliver a whole plant full-spectrum experience. This allows consumers to experience the aromas and flavors exactly like the live flowers produced at harvest.
Lost Farm is launching live rosin-infused edibles with two strain and flavor combos: Cherry Lime x GMO rosin chews and Yuzu Fizz x Sour Dream rosin gummies. We chose these strains for their unique flavors, aromas, and effects that we felt would be best conveyed through a live rosin format. With an underlying breath of garlic bread, the potent indica-dominant GMO strain is hyped for its bold, beasty skunk aroma on a background of sweet, spicy fire. It marries perfectly with a Cherry Lime flavor. The sativa-dominant Sour Dream strain offers aromas of pungent gas and sugared grapefruit, which beautifully complement the light, lemony citrus flavors of Yuzu Fizz.
