This week we’re going silent to support the amplification of black voices, but silence isn’t enough.

The inequities caused by systemic racism are crystal clear when it comes to cannabis, where black people are arrested for possession at nearly 4x the rates of white people, despite similar rates of usage. Where companies thrive and minorities remain incarcerated. The system is not broken. It was never whole to begin with.

And while we quiet our voices, we cannot and should not quiet our action. Kiva is making donations to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and the Last Prisoner Project, to act in solidarity with the fight against systemic racism and the historic oppression of the black community, and the liberation of those wronged by the indefensible War on Drugs.

We cannot go on with business as usual. The #ShowMustBePaused.
